EERA is a professional association for reuse, recycling and reprocessing companies dealing with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment - WEEE in Europe.The vision of EERA is for a circular economy where WEEE is managed as a resource and is returned into the economy as equipment for reuse or as a raw material. A circular economy with market actors cooperating along the value chain, an appropriate and enforced legal framework, better collection processes, treatment based on Best Available Technologies - BAT, eradication of illegal practices and product design integrated in a life-cycle approach is what EERA envisages.

EERA is organising at least five EERA meetings and one plant visit a year for EERA members, all over Europe. EERA members are invited to register for EERA meetings directly at the website.

EERA regularly publishes papers. Presentations in workshops and conferences are frequently given to express the views of the recyclers. Recyclers

The EERA members process ± 2,2 million tonnes of WEEE annually. The total amount of WEEE arising in Europe is ± 9 million tonnes of which only 3,5 million tonnes is accounted for as treated in compliance with legislation. The EERA members seek to work collaboratively with other stakeholders like the producers, take back schemes, governments and European Commission to improve the accountability of the value chain. Together with the supply chain of collectors, transporters, sorters, the WEEE reuse, recycling and reprocessing industry is a significant sector in our economy and provides jobs for > 10.000 people and contributes to conserving [2,9 million] tonnes of CO2 annually.
